Stucco it up!

Tah Dah, here is our final stucco layer!  At first we freaked out a bit, wishing we had chosen a darker gray but now we are loving it!  Because most of our house is shaded by our giant avocado tree, we were afraid to go too dark with the stucco color.  We debated for a few weeks about which gray to use and thanks to our good friends Rich and Allison who used this exact same color before on a house they have for sale, we were able to make a final decision and just suck it up & go for it!  It was a really scary decision as it can't really be changed, it's a done deal!  We are loving how the avocado tree makes shadowed patterns on the house throughout the day and also the warmth of the gray which has a brown undertone.  Notice though that I am not showing any close up pics of the front door.  We had it painted a lime green about a month ago that we are not too sure about.  Neighbors and friends seem to be loving it but we are still out for debate on that!

Our front, driveway and back decks are being built now which is super exciting for us.  We decided to use a beautiful tropical hardwood called Ipe for the decking material.  Last week Finn was able to leave his handprints in concrete that will be supporting the back deck stair landing.  The prints won't really be visible but he sure had fun putting his hands in the wet concrete!  We also ended up having a lot of house drama to deal with over the weekend after receiving our long awaited limestone tile from Spain.  Long story short, it was not a good batch of tile and we had to send it back after waiting 3 stinking months for it!  So Finn and I hit up several tile stores again this week (thanks Finn for being such a great tile shopper!) and luckily it looks like we have found another limestone option that should be perfect for the dreamy, soothing, beach spa bathroom we have been envisioning.  Pics and drama story to follow soon....  Adios until then!
